A silver lining,

i had a good night tonight, i spoke to a new friend i think, she made feel happy, we had a lot common, i would like to meet her face to face,

Hi All, well I thought I would have some fruit trees in my garden so we can see them and enjoy the fruit, so I bought some dwarf rootstock plants, apple, plums & pears,

this is the barrels I planted them in

  cut down to size     

few drainage holes 

stones to cover the holes  

compost and plants in    

and trees planted  

all they have to do is grow now

Hi All, the other day I bought some kale and spring cabbage plug plants from eBay, for my allotment, so I went over today and planted them out and put up some covers for them,

I made up some small poly tunnels , I planted through weed membrane to stop weeds growing and to save on watering,

I have a few more plants to plant out and a few more tunnels to put up but that will be tomorrow, for spring cabbage and my Broad beans,

The advantage of these are I can grow small plant in them first when the weather is cold, wet, snowing or windy, then take the plastic cover off of these in the spring time, then cover them with small netting to stop the butterfly's eating them,

Hi all, well I thought I  would give it another try, after talking to my wife, do I or don't I, I'll thought i would give it another try, so last week I went over to the plot and split my plot into two,

section one, I've covered with old compost then with a green tarpaulin, I'll leave this for a year allowing the worms to break down the compost and the lack of light to kill off the weeds.

section two, with weed membrane, I'll plant this section in spring, I may plant through the membrane, this will stop weeds from growing, keep the soil moist, and save me from digging, or remove it, dig the soil and them plant it,

the way I covered the site was to make out the beds then came in 6" to secure the membrane, then dug a trench around it , I placed the edge of the membrane into the trench and refilled the soil,

Hi all, its a busy week here, we're having a new kitchen put in,  a lot of banging, swearing, and that's from the wife

but on the allotment and home, I'm picking runners beans, french beans, peas, and some toms, beet roots

Well it must be Christmas, well my plant think so, my amaryllis normally flowers around that time but not now, must be something with global warming, mind you it still looks nice anytime of year. 19 July 2008

Hi All, well does life get any better than this, being able to step out side your back door and pick broad beans and fresh peas, the taste is out of this world, I'll be eating some (more I'm eating them as I'm podding them)  for tonight's tea, I'm freezing some for a later time,

hi all, what a nice day, sunny and hot, burnnnnnnnnnnn, anyway i went over to my plot, done some weeding, earth up my potatoes,

my lettuce are good enough to eat,so I'll be picking some next week, onions and shallots are bulking up, runners are twisting up their polls, my beetroot are just popping through the soil, i was getting worried, but i must say that my parsnips, Swede and carrots are still sleeping

but overall i'm happy with how things are coming on
